Portugal

Portugal is a diverse, hospitable, and delightful country where more than ten million people live. It has more than 800 kilometers of coastline, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. Its land bor-der limits with Spain, a country with which it completes the Iberian Peninsula. The archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira are the two island territories of the country.

It also has a great cultural wealth that has been recognized worldwide and officially: there are more than twenty Portuguese elements that are World Heritage Sites, according to Unesco. The historic center of Porto, the cultural landscape of Sintra, and the University of Colombia, one of the oldest in Europe, are just several examples.

Musically, Portugal sounds like fado. It is an internationally recognized type of music that tells of life experiences through singing, only accompanied by a Spanish or Portuguese guitar. In 2011, he also received that distinction.

Its natural landscapes, passing through the beach and the mountains, offer various outdoor activities, from walks on foot or by bicycle to more risky sports, such as canyoning.
Its gastronomy is strongly influenced by the presence of the ocean: fish and shellfish are indispensable in many of the typical dishes of the country, which also follow a Mediterranean diet. The cheese and wine of Portugal are also two of the flagship foods.
