The Dominican Republic is a country located on the island of Hispaniola, a territory that it shares with Haiti, with which it borders to the west. Its more than a thousand kilometers of coastline are bathed by the Caribbean and the Atlantic Ocean. It is a vacation destination known worldwide for its climate, landscapes, and, above all, for its paradisiacal beaches.

Its capital, Santo Domingo, is considered one of the oldest cities in America. In 1990, its Colonial City was declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. This same title was also awarded to other Dominican cultural manifestations: merengue, in 2016, and bachata, in 2019.

Its gastronomy is the result of a mixture of Spanish, Taino and African products. The banana is one of the national ingredients and is consumed and included in many recipes. Foods such as rice, meat, and beans are also common. Natural, non-alcoholic, and fruit-based drinks are very popular, as is Dominican rum.
