The geographical location of Panama makes the country a privileged enclave to enjoy nature and culture without leaving its borders, which it shares with Costa Rica to the west and Colombia to the east. By sea, the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean bathe its more than 2,000 kilometers of coastline.

In addition, both oceans are connected through the Panama Canal, a great engineering work that ended in 1914 after the work of more than 75,000 people for 10 years. To make this connection, different modifications were made to the natural scenery of the country. The artificial island of Barro Colorado was one of the results. Located in the middle of Gatun Lake, it is famous for being the most studied tropical forest in the world.

Culturally, the country is the result of an encounter between different civilizations: Spanish, Amerindian, African … That is why it is easy to find elements related to Panamanian history in each of its corners. Even today the native peoples keep alive many of their customs.

Its gastronomy is just as diverse. Rice is an essential ingredient in many of their traditional dishes. So are corn and banana, in addition to fish and seafood or meat.
